Time to Fly the Friendly Skies?

Need something to do on those long flights?  Or maybe you have 2 short flights with an extended delay at the airport between flights?  

We all would like to have our knitting with us, but what about going through security?

According to the TSA Website, posted on November 21, 2012 :

Knitting needles are permitted in your carry-on baggage or checked baggage.

Items needed are permitted in your carry-on baggage or checked baggage with the exception of circular thread cutters or any cutter with a blade contained inside which cannot go through the checkpoint and must go in your checked baggage.

Remember these are for domestic flights.  We also recommend confirming with TSA if you have any concerns.  If you are on an international flight you should check with the airline.

Several of our regular knitters have flown with their knitting without incident.  We did have one lady tell the horror story of boarding a plane in Paris, France, heading back to the United States and the security guard there confiscated her needles.  Our recommendation if traveling is to keep a self-addressed stamped envelope (must be stamps valid in the country you are in) so you could mail your needles back to yourself if you encounter any problems.
